9/11 survivor Stanley Praimnath has recounted how he escaped the World Trade Centre’s South Tower as he shared his story on the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.
Praimnath was working on the 81st floor on September 11, 2001, when United Airlines Flight 175 struck the tower. He survived the impact by taking cover beneath his desk as fire and debris tore through the building.
Trapped in the wreckage, he was eventually found by Brian Clark, a fellow worker who helped pull him through a hole in a collapsed wall. The two men then made their way down the stairs and escaped the tower shortly before it fell.
Praimnath has previously described Clark as a “guardian angel”. The pair have remained close in the years since the attacks, which killed almost 3,000 people in New York, at the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania.
He continues to speak publicly about the experience, saying he feels a responsibility to remember those who died and to share the story of his survival.
