A Florida family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Publix and distributor Quirch Foods, alleging that contaminated GreenWise frozen blueberries bought at a store in Largo led to Karla Mullins’s death and the hospitalisation of her son. The complaint says Mrs Mullins bought the organic blueberries from a Publix supermarket on Ulmerton Road on or around 21 May. She and her son, Spencer, ate the fruit and later became ill, according to court documents. Mrs Mullins was treated at Morton Plant Hospital before she died on 20 June, the lawsuit alleges. Her husband, Richard Mullins, and their son are…
Miley Cyrus’s new album, Bass Persuades, has been given a two-star review after the singer moved towards club music and teamed up with Model/Actriz provocateur Cole Haden. The record marks a change in direction for Cyrus, who has dropped her surname for the project and embraced a darker, more abrasive sound. Haden’s distorted production and sexually charged style bring an unusual edge to songs including Different Religion, Orbit and Innocent Ways. However, the collaboration is judged to be more miss than hit. The title track is described as a disco-driven attempt to stir a disaffected generation, but its faltering melody…
A Florida family is suing supermarket chain Publix and distributor Quirch Foods, alleging that contaminated frozen blueberries bought in Largo caused the death of a 74-year-old woman and left her son in hospital. The wrongful-death claim says Karla Mullins became ill after eating GreenWise Organic frozen blueberries purchased from a Publix store on Ulmerton Road. Her son, Spencer Mullins, is also said to have eaten the berries before developing symptoms and requiring hospital treatment. The complaint, filed in Pinellas County Circuit Court, alleges that Karla Mullins died on 20 June after falling ill. Her husband, Richard Mullins, and their son…
Miley Cyrus’s new album Bass Persuades has been awarded two stars in a review that describes her move into club music as ambitious but largely unsuccessful. The singer, who has dropped her surname for the project, works with Cole Haden of Model/Actriz, bringing distortion and a more provocative edge to tracks including Different Religion, Orbit and Innocent Ways. However, reviewer Robert Moran argues that the album’s experiments rarely come together. He describes the title track as an attempt to shake listeners out of apathy, but says its melody and lyrics are more likely to cause confusion than inspire movement. The…
Washington DC is set for a cloudy and breezy Thursday, with temperatures reaching about 66F (19C) as a developing nor’easter brings a risk of tidal flooding to the region. The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for the District of Columbia from 5am on Thursday until 9am on Friday, warning that low-lying areas along the shoreline could be affected, particularly around high tide. Forecasters expect tides to run between two and two-and-a-half feet above normal, with up to half a foot of water covering some vulnerable areas. The next high tides at Washington Channel are due at…
Kate Hore will become the first Melbourne Demon to reach 100 AFLW games when she leads her side out on Friday night. The milestone marks another step in the career of a player who has developed into one of the competition’s most respected captains and leading performers. Hore took over the Melbourne captaincy from AFLW great Daisy Pearce, who remains one of her strongest influences.
