The father of missing Austin man Alexander Bangert is appealing for information more than three weeks after his 30-year-old son disappeared in Texas.
Alexander was last seen on 9 August, according to Texas EquuSearch, which has listed him as an active missing-person case. His father, Eugene Bangert, has been travelling from San Antonio to Austin each weekend to distribute flyers and join the search.

Alexander had been living for more than a year at the Promesa Apartments, near Vandergrift High School. His work truck was found on the day he disappeared at the Bridge at Ribelin Ranch apartment complex, about half a mile away.
The vehicle was later towed, with Alexander’s phone, laptop, wallet and keys reportedly still inside. His father said he did not know why his son would have left the truck at the complex, where he was not believed to know anyone.
Concern grew after Alexander’s employer contacted Eugene the following Tuesday to ask whether he had seen him. The family then contacted hospitals and jails before involving Austin Police Department detectives.
Officers searching around the Bridge at Ribelin Ranch found Alexander’s company hoodie on the far side of an apartment fence. Investigators believe he may have entered a nearby greenbelt in the area of the 9900 block of McNeil Drive.
Texas EquuSearch has carried out searches with police, using volunteer teams, dogs and drones. Further searches are expected, but no trace of Alexander has been found.
Police have told the family that foul play is not suspected. Eugene said detectives also told him that obtaining his son’s phone records would require a judge’s authorisation.
“I believe in my heart, he’s out there somewhere, still alive,” Eugene said.
