Fox Business presenter Jackie DeAngelis is suing Whole Foods after allegedly being bitten by a black pit bull inside the chain’s New York store in September 2023.
DeAngelis, co-host of The Big Money Show, filed a complaint in Manhattan Supreme Court on 20 August, claiming the dog attacked her left hand at the Whole Foods branch at 10 Columbus Circle.
According to the lawsuit, she required surgery and has been left with significant scarring, disfigurement and restricted movement. She also alleges that her injuries have affected her ability to carry out certain everyday tasks and professional duties.
DeAngelis claims the animal was not a service dog and should not have been inside the supermarket. The complaint alleges that Whole Foods failed to enforce its own rules governing animals on the premises and did not take reasonable steps to identify or remove the dog before the attack.
Police told the New York Post that the dog and its owner had left the store by the time officers arrived following the reported incident.
The lawsuit states that DeAngelis’s injuries are permanent and continuing, and seeks unspecified damages for medical costs, emotional distress and other losses.
Whole Foods had not publicly commented on the case at the time of publication. The allegations have not been tested in court.
