The final day of the Melbourne Assembly will open with an address from Victorian Premier Ben Carroll, as Labor’s $1 billion election sweetener for first-home buyers remains a central focus of the event.
Mr Carroll will then take part in a question-and-answer session with The Age’s state political editor, Chip Le Grand.
Melbourne Assembly turns to healthy places and people
The keynote speaker is Carlos Moreno, the Franco-Colombian urbanist who pioneered the 15-minute city concept. Mr Moreno addressed the forum earlier in the week while former New York City mayor Bill de Blasio listened.
A panel discussion on healthy places and people will follow, moderated by Nine’s Alicia Loxley.
The panellists will include Kelvyn Lavelle, a board member of the West of Melbourne Economic Development Alliance; Liam Wallis, founding director of HIP V HYPE; Deputy Sydney Lord Mayor Jess Miller; Dr Nic Woods, chief health officer of Bupa; and Alison Leighton, chief executive of the City of Melbourne.
The session will conclude with a question-and-answer discussion.
