Paris Saint-Germain beat Barcelona 4-2 at the Parc des Princes in a Champions League classic, handing the LaLiga leaders their first defeat in 12 matches this season.
The reigning European champions prevailed in a match that produced 40 attempts on goal, with both sides repeatedly threatening before PSG pulled clear late on.
Desire Doue gave Paris Saint-Germain the lead in the 38th minute after a mistake by Lamine Yamal. Barcelona responded when Xavi Espart equalised 17 minutes after the interval.
PSG had missed several chances before Lucas Hernandez restored their advantage with a header from a set-piece in the 72nd minute. Barcelona levelled again seven minutes later as Yamal struck from a tight angle.
The visitors’ resistance lasted only two minutes. Vitinha immediately put PSG back in front with a finish from the edge of the box, before Fabian Ruiz completed the scoring with a tap-in in the 86th minute.
Barcelona had earlier lost the Ballon d’Or holder Ousmane Dembele to a suspected hamstring issue after 19 minutes. Substitute Ferran Torres was denied from close range before later striking the post, while PSG also squandered a series of opportunities during a frantic first half.
Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Safanov saved from Fermin after Doue’s opener, while Barcelona’s Garcia produced two quick stops to deny Dembele and Doue in the opening stages. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia also hit the post inside the first two minutes.
The result comes five days before Barcelona visit Real Madrid for the first El Clasico of the season.
