At least eight people have been injured, two seriously, after a knife attack at a vocational training centre in Ostroleka, Poland. A 19-year-old man suspected of carrying out the attack has been arrested, police said.
The incident took place at the centre in the town, which lies just under 100km north of Warsaw. Those injured include students and teachers.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing a young man holding a knife and attacking people, while those targeted shouted for help. Emergency services were sent to the scene shortly afterwards.
The suspect is alleged to have left the school grounds after the attack before being arrested on the outskirts of Ostroleka, a police spokeswoman told Polsat News on Wednesday.
Police are continuing to investigate a possible motive for the attack. No details about what may have led to the incident have been given.
Ostroleka mayor Pawel Niewiadomski said the situation was under control and confirmed that the suspect was in custody.
Psychological support will be made available to pupils and teachers affected by the knife attack, the mayor said.
The vocational training centre has been closed until further notice. Lessons have also been suspended at all other schools in Ostroleka, which has a population of about 48,000.
