Austin police are searching for a man accused of assaulting a security officer at Huston-Tillotson University after allegedly trespassing on the campus.
The incident happened at about 12.30am on Saturday, August 1, at the university’s site on Chicon Street, according to the Austin Police Department (APD).
Police said a security officer confronted the man and attempted to escort him from the property. The suspect is then alleged to have physically attacked the officer, who suffered minor injuries. Investigators said the man was captured on security camera footage following the assault. He is described by police as a Black man who was wearing a dark T-shirt, blue warm-up trousers, dark sliders and green socks.
Anyone who recognises the suspect or has information about his identity is asked to contact the APD Aggravated Assault Unit on 512-974-5245.
Information can also be provided anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers programme by calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
