A woman has died after being shot inside a parked vehicle in Seattle’s Belltown neighbourhood, with the gunman still at large.
Seattle Police Department officers were sent to the area of Third Avenue and Blanchard Street shortly before 2am on Sunday, 6 September, after reports of gunfire. They found the woman suffering from gunshot wounds to her head and torso.
Officers gave emergency assistance before Seattle Fire Department medics arrived. She was taken to Harborview Medical Centre in a critical condition but later died in hospital, police said. Detectives said the woman had been sitting in a parked vehicle when the suspect fired several rounds into it. The attacker left the scene shortly afterwards and had not been arrested.
The killing was the second fatal shooting reported in Belltown during the early hours of Sunday. Police said homicide detectives were working to establish what led to the attack.
