John Ternus’s first day as Apple chief executive has been imagined as a tongue-in-cheek internal briefing, complete with an early-morning email outlining the challenges facing the company’s new leader.
The fictional memo, presented by The Verge, welcomes Mr Ternus to his new role and offers a playful assessment of Apple’s divisions and priorities. It begins by warning him that the company’s design-led offices may not be as easy to navigate as expected.
In a joke aimed at former Apple design chief Jony Ive, the message says the building contains no conventional door handles, describing them as “unsightly” under Ive’s design philosophy.

The briefing says it contains a summary of Apple’s business, divided by department, alongside a schedule for the chief executive’s first day. It also notes that a discussion about the company’s redesigned Siri has been postponed.
The fictional Apple Intelligence team is said to have promised that the delayed Siri plans are “for real” this time, a reference to the company’s continuing efforts to develop more capable artificial intelligence features.
The memo then turns to Apple’s hardware business, beginning a wider tour of the responsibilities awaiting Mr Ternus as he takes charge of the technology giant.
