Thousands of students arrived at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix on Monday as the campus opened its doors for Welcome Week, bringing a surge of activity ahead of the new academic year.
Move-in began on August 31 and is scheduled to continue until September 2, with new and returning students settling into university accommodation and preparing for life on campus.
Grand Canyon University said Welcome Week, which runs from August 31 to September 7, includes orientation sessions, group activities and events designed to help students meet one another and become familiar with the campus community.
New students are also taking part in orientation groups during the first three days, with sessions focused on making connections and learning more about university life.
Traditional classes are due to begin on September 8, giving students several days to complete preparations and take part in the programme before teaching starts.
