Michael Schulman, the New Yorker writer and author of Oscar Wars: A History of Hollywood in Gold, Sweat, and Tears, has appeared in a new interview with FOX 2 Detroit.
The discussion focuses on Schulman’s examination of the Academy Awards and the rivalries, controversies and behind-the-scenes struggles that have shaped Hollywood’s most prominent ceremony.
Schulman, who lives in New York City, has covered arts and culture for The New Yorker since joining the magazine in 2006. His work has included reporting on film, theatre, television and the wider entertainment industry.
Oscar Wars is his latest book. It follows the history of the Oscars and explores the battles surrounding the awards, from the ambitions of performers and filmmakers to the campaigns and disputes that have influenced the race for the coveted statuettes.
Schulman previously wrote Her Again: Becoming Meryl Streep, a study of the actress’s artistic development during the 1970s. The book became a New York Times bestseller.
