A suspected drink-driver led Los Angeles police on a dangerous chase through several San Fernando Valley neighbourhoods before being arrested after crashing into a power pole in Reseda.
The pursuit began in Encino on Monday night, when the driver allegedly ran red lights and swerved across lanes on Balboa Boulevard at speeds of about 80mph, according to police.
The vehicle then joined the northbound 101 Freeway, where it was reportedly travelling at more than 100mph. Officers also believed the driver could be armed.
After leaving the freeway in Woodland Hills, the suspect continued through Canoga Park, driving on the wrong side of the road and weaving between traffic. The chase also passed through Chatsworth and Winnetka.
The pursuit ended near Saticoy Street and Corbin Avenue shortly before 10pm, when the car lost control and struck a power pole.
Los Angeles Police Department officers surrounded the vehicle and detained the driver at the scene. A firearm was reportedly found inside the car.
No injuries were immediately reported. The driver has not been publicly identified and the allegations have not been tested in court.
