Two men have been arrested after a shooting in Atlanta’s Sweet Auburn neighbourhood left a woman with a graze wound, police said.
Officers were called to the junction of Jackson Street SE and Gartrell Street SE at about 3.49am on Saturday, 5 September. The woman was treated at the scene and was conscious and alert, according to the Atlanta Police Department.
Witnesses provided officers with descriptions of the two men believed to have been involved. Police later detained Damarcus Barnes, 22, and Demarcus Weems, 18, while searching the area.
Both firearms allegedly used in the shooting were recovered, police said.
Barnes faces two firearms charges, aggravated assault, reckless conduct and wilful obstruction of law enforcement officers, according to Atlanta News First. Weems faces the same charges apart from the obstruction allegation.
Investigators have not said what led to the gunfire or whether the woman was the intended target. It is also unclear whether she knew either of the men arrested.
