Police Commissioner Richard Worley said the victims, aged between 17 and 21, were hit when two suspects got out of a car and fired multiple rounds before fleeing — with one man undergoing surgery for “very serious” injuries.
Six young men were wounded in South Baltimore on Sunday evening when at least two gunmen stepped out of a vehicle and began shooting, Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley has said. Officers responded in large numbers at around 9:45pm to the 2600 block of Hollins Ferry Road, near its junction with Harmon Avenue, where the victims — aged between 17 and 21 — had been gathered. One of the men suffered “very serious” injuries and was taken into surgery, though all six are expected to survive.
According to police, the group was socialising when a car pulled up, two people climbed out and started firing.
“All we know is they pulled up to the corner, got out, and just opened fire randomly at the victims,” Worley said.
“Looks like just as there was a group of young men standing outside hanging out under a tree on Harmon Ave., a vehicle looks like it pulls up. Two suspects exit the vehicle, fire multiple rounds at our victims, striking all six of them. And then the suspects get back in the car and flee.”
The wounded were located in stages. Two were found shot at the scene on Hollins Ferry Road, and moments later a third victim was discovered running towards a nearby firehouse. Three more then arrived separately at a hospital.
Investigation continues into Monday
The police operation stretched well beyond the night of the attack. Multiple streets in the area were shut off, and local station WMAR reported that roads around the 2600 block of Hollins Ferry Road remained closed into Monday morning while detectives processed evidence — a sign that investigators were still working the scene hours after the gunfire.
No descriptions of the suspects have been released, and police have not yet said whether the shooting was random or targeted. Nothing in the official account suggests anyone in the group fired back: the latest information continues to describe two suspects leaving a vehicle, discharging multiple rounds and fleeing.
There has also been no further update on the condition of the most seriously hurt victim, with the most recent reports from Baltimore Police and local media still stating that he underwent surgery and that all six men are expected to survive.
Anyone with information has been asked to contact Baltimore police or Metro Crime Stoppers on 1-866-7LOCKUP.
According to crime data, the city has now recorded 175 non-fatal shootings this year — exactly level with the figure at the same point in 2025.
