A person has been seriously injured in a shooting in DeKalb County, Georgia, police have said. Officers responded on Wednesday afternoon to the 3400 block of Blazing Pine Path in Decatur, near the address of 3490 Blazing Pine Path, according to the DeKalb County Police Department. Authorities said one victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Details of what led to the gunfire, and of the victim’s current condition, have not been released.
Investigators remain active at the scene as they work to determine what happened, police said, and further information is expected to be made public as the inquiry continues.
Local broadcaster 11Alive also reported that the shooting took place on Wednesday afternoon and that DeKalb County police were actively investigating, though its coverage likewise contained no information about the victim’s identity or age, any suspect, a possible motive or an arrest.
As of Wednesday 15 July, no arrest had been announced and neither a suspect nor the victim had been publicly named.
